Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Quito

Arrive in Quito (2,800 m / 9,200 ft), UNESCO World Heritage city. Transfer to hotel, free time depending on arrival. Evening briefing with your guide.

  • Overnight in Sheraton Quito or similar
  • Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Cotopaxi National Park

Trek Drive along the Avenue of Volcanoes to Cotopaxi NP. Hike around Limpiopungo Lagoon at the base of Rumiñahui volcano with views of Cotopaxi (3 hrs, 6.4 km, elevation 3,870–4,222 m).

  • Overnight in La Floresta or similar
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Biking in the Cloud Forest

Mountain bike from Llanganates NP to the Pastaza Canyon, mostly downhill (3 hrs, 32 km). Visit the “Swing at the End of the World” in Baños.

Day 4: Amazon Canyoning & Homestay

Explore waterfall canyons in Llanganates NP with a local Kichwa guide. Learn about flora, fauna, and indigenous traditions.

  • Overnight in a basic jungle lodge with Kichwa family.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Rafting the Jatunyacu River & Hot Springs

White-water raft class III rapids on the Jatunyacu River (~4 hrs). Later, relax in Papallacta volcanic hot springs.

  • Overnight in Termas Papallacta
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Otavalo Market & Cultural Project

Visit Otavalo Indigenous Market and Sacha WarmiKuna women’s project in Pijal for cultural immersion, weaving, and traditional cooking.

  • Overnight in Las Palmeras or similar.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7: Cuicocha Crater Lake Trek

Trek 9.3 miles (~15 km, 4.5 hrs) around Cuicocha Crater Lake, then take a boat ride across the caldera. Evening farewell dinner in Quito.

Day 8: Farewell!

Transfer to airport for international flights.
