Trip overview

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Quito

Airport pickup, hotel check-in, and evening briefing (UNESCO Old Town time permitting).

Day 2: Cotopaxi National Park hike → Baños

Walk the Limpiopungo trails at high elevation with views of Cotopaxi; acclimatization day. Continue to Baños on the edge of the Amazon.

Day 3: Bike Llanganates → Pastaza Canyon

Mostly-downhill ride past farms, waterfalls, and canyon views; free time in Baños (optional “Swing at the End of the World”).

Day 4: Canyoning in the rainforest → Amazon homestay

Guided waterfall canyoning and jungle hike; overnight with a Kichwa family lodge deep in the forest.

Day 5: Raft the Jatunyacu (Amazon headwaters) → Papallacta

Class III whitewater, picnic on riverbanks, then transfer to the high-Andes hot springs resort at Papallacta.

Day 6: Otavalo Market + Sacha WarmiKuna project

Handicrafts, textiles, and a hands-on community visit (traditional lunch and weaving with local women). Overnight in an Imbabura hacienda.

Day 7: Cuicocha Crater Lake loop

Scenic rim trek with crater-lake views (optional boat to observe volcanic activity); return toward Quito.

Day 8: Depart Quito

Airport transfer after breakfast.
